Ruth Gresser opened Pizzeria Paradiso in Dupont Circle in November, 1991 so that she could make the kind of pizza she longed for but couldn’t find. What she ended up creating was a deliciously cheesy pizza empire, with locations all over the DMV area. Known for their crust-forward approach for pizza and award-winning beer program, Pizzeria Paradiso is arguably one of the most beloved restaurants in the city.
At Pizzeria Paradiso’s Georgetown location, you can sit down for a delicious meal and then head down to their game room, featured in this episode of At the Table. There, Gresser has created a space that feels relaxed, yet intentional, with arcade games and plenty of beer to go around. Executive Beverage Director Drew McCormick knows a thing or two about beer—she’s the first woman to take on the prestigious role at the restaurant chain. Though for her, it’s less about being known as a female in the industry, and more about being known for her craft.
